There is a half-mile loop in Madrona — east on Spring, south on 38th, back on Union — that no algorithm will ever recommend. It contains no listings, no comps, no walk-score upgrades. It contains, instead, the small civic facts that make a neighborhood: a bench that gets afternoon sun, a corner where the wind drops in October, the cedar that everyone on the block looks at when they leave the house.
